About Us

With Tender Loving Care

“Linus has a blanket that’s all his very own.
It comforts and sustains him when he’s feeling quite alone.
He knows that others love him for ’twas made with special care
And because it means so much to him, it’s carried everywhere.
You too can have a blanket that’s created just for you,
To comfort and support you when you’re feeling rather blue.
It’s yours to keep forever, so you may always know
That others out there love you and to you our wishes go.”

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to comforting kids with security blankets.

We are the Collin/Grayson/Rockwall County, Texas Project Linus Chapter that provides new, handmade blankets to critically ill and traumatized children. Our mission is to distribute blankets to comfort children in our area by delivering new handmade security blankets that are sewn, quilted, knitted, or crocheted. They must be washable and in kid friendly colors and/or patterns. Once these blankets are given to the children, most of them never put them down because they provide so much comfort and security for them in a life that has been turned upside-down by illness or accident.

While the focus of all Project Linus chapters is on the children living within their local coverage area, occasionally we are all involved in providing comfort to children affected by a mass casualty or natural disaster event. In addition to our monthly blanket deliveries to the hospitals, shelters and clinics in our area, our blanketeers have been involved in providing blankets to children outside our region including Moore, Oklahoma after the F-5 tornado struck and West, Texas after the fertilizer plant explosion, as well as other national and international disasters.

Closer to home, Camp Dragonfly, hosted by the Hope Center of Texoma, is a semi-annual weekend retreat, led by professional clinicians and trained staff, for children ages 8-12 who have suffered the death of a loved one. All activities at Camp Dragonfly are designed to help children heal and live successfully after loss. Project Linus provides a blanket that includes a dragonfly in its design for each child.

For the past 10 years Project Linus has been involved with Snowball Express, a “vacation” for children of our fallen military since 9/11. Our chapter has been honored to distribute over 1,000 blankets a year to the children attending this function for the past 7 years. The blankets are made and donated by Project Linus chapters across the country, as well as our Facebook friends.
